ORC Mosque

The Oromo Resource Center Mosque is conceived as a place of gathering and reflection, rooted in Oromo traditions yet shaped by its Australian setting. The design embraces quiet simplicity, consistent in detail, colour, and form, and remains deeply connected to people and place.

Inspired by Oromo architecture, the project draws from rhythms found in nature and community, echoing an ethos shared with Australia’s First Peoples: a deep respect for land, connection, and continuity.

A warm brick palette and measured proportions create a grounded, enduring presence. Light, shadow, and landscape work together to define a calm, inclusive space, one that bridges cultures and generations while remaining distinctly of its place.
